there's a chip in this card.

Tap this card on the back of a phone and it opens a web page. Right now it opens this one. You can change it to your own website or LinkedIn profile, and then it's your business card.

It's the size of a credit card, so it lives in your wallet. When you meet someone, hand it over and let them tap it, and your LinkedIn or your website is open on their phone. They don't need an app.

Two phones seen from the back. On the iPhone the card overlaps the top edge beside the camera. On the Android phone the card sits in the middle of the back. top edge, by the camera middle of the back A. iPhone B. Android

iPhone XS and newer read it with no app. On Android, turn NFC on in Settings.

what's on it now

The chip isn't locked, so you can write over it. It holds 504 bytes, and the https:// counts. A LinkedIn address is around 50.

put your own address on it

Get NFC Tools, free for iPhone and Android.

  1. Tap Write, then Add a record, then URL / URI.
  2. Paste your address and tap OK.
  3. Tap Write and hold the card to the phone until it's done.

You can rewrite it as often as you like. Don't use Lock tag unless you mean it: it's permanent, and nobody can undo it.

The QR code is a sticker and it points here. Peel it off and put on a sticker with your own QR code, so anyone whose phone won't read the chip can scan that instead.

finding your linkedin address

It looks like https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe-4a1b2c3/.

In the app, open your profile, tap ยทยทยท, then Share profile via and copy the link. Delete everything from the ? onward.

On a computer, copy it from the address bar on your profile. Edit public profile & URL lets you shorten it to something like /in/janedoe. Do that before you write the card, because the old address stops working.

other things you can put on it

A web address works on every phone. NFC Tools can also write a phone number, email, contact card or Wi-Fi login, but iPhones ignore contact cards and Wi-Fi unless an app is open.

Or point the card at a page you control and update the page instead of the card. This page is a Cell on Tissue Cloud, and you get five free.
